This past weekend was the first time this summer Josh had been at the cabin. Unfortunately Saturday was crappy so we didn't get a boat ride in except on the john boat (which Josh deemed to loud). The trains came through multiple times. He was definitely scared because of the noise. I think it was the anticipation of the noise because once the train was done blowing the whistle, he was fine. Luckily the train did not wake him up in the middle of the night.
He loved being with Grandma and Grandpa Diers and being spoiled. At night while Grandma was getting him ready for bed (very slowly), he would ask why we came back in the cabin. Pretty much we needed to leave.
The next day we got to go for a boat ride. He helped Grandpa and Daddy drive the boat. Grandpa actually showed him how to make the boat go and let him steer. He would tell him "No we want to North, see the N. We are going East. Turn the wheel." The rest of us were laughing because Josh can NOT read. :)
Today as I was dropping him off at Diane's (daycare) we heard a train whistle. He toldme it was from the cabin. How do you explain distance to a kid?
