This week

I know it has been awhile since I have written but I have been busy. Let's see what has been missed.

This last weekend Charlie went to open the cabin and Josh and I were on our own. Grandma Wenninger came to visit so she kept him entertained. On Sunday, Josh and I went to the zoo. From the time we entered the zoo, he ran EVERYWHERE. He was so excited. It was like he had never been to the zoo before. He kept saying, "Mom look a that animal". Towards the end of our trip, a little girl got hurt and we saw her being pushed in a wheel chair with her mom holding her. She had a cut on her head. Josh was very upset and was ready to leave. We passed the ambulance and fire truck. I explained how the little girl would get taken care of by the doctor. He kept asking about her hours later. What a sensitive soul.

One night this week while Charlie and Josh were outside, Charlie had Josh put his toys away. He was pushing his jeep and stopped. Charlie, annoyed, told Josh to get moving. Josh's response was "Dad it is a red light". Duh, Charlie. :) Charlie waited a few seconds and then asked "Is it green yet". The answer was no. Then a few seconds later, he got his green light and could continue moving.

Twice this week he was woken up in the morning with socks on that he had not had on the night before. When I asked if he put his socks on, he says "My feet were cold". I think this says more about my parenting skills than anything.

Last night, Charlie was going to change the oil in my car. Josh asked what was wrong with my car and asked if it was broken. We said yes because it was easier. Later when Charlie was getting him ready for bed, Josh explained that my car was broken because I drive too fast and he told me to slow down.

Today at dinner, he finished eating he wanted to play outside and we said no it is raining. My little smart-alek then says but I can play in the garage, it is not raining in there. We were speechless.

He also wanted a snack. We told him later and he needed to wait, and he would say "Ok I waited. Can I have a snack?" Finally after bugging me for a hour, we gave him a snack. He ate two bananas, peaches, and a packet of 100 calorie cookies. I think he is going through a growth spurt.

The aww moment of the night comes when we were rocking tonight. He has to sit on the chair by himself and makes room for me. He holds all 5 blankets and lays his head on me. Tonight he says "I love you mom. You are my best friend." Awwww.

That is all for now.

Racing Cars

Last night Josh (or Joshua as I am reminded by him) was playing with his cars and race track. For those of you who have not seen his race track, you put two cars on the top and they race down in opposite directions. Anyhow he was having fun racing his silver car and watching it fly into the bathroom. He then moved the track down the hall to the closet door and was racing it by the door. The car went under the door so he went to open it. Charlie, not realizing what had happened, told him he couldn't go in there. He likes to play in there and we like him to not. He said he had to get his car and we said ok.

He opens the door, gets the car and closes the door. Then he continues to purposely get the car under the door. Everytime he would have a grin and say "I have to get my car". When it didn't go under the door, he would say "Oops I missed". He is devious that one.

Right before bed he found a paint brush and was "painting" all upstairs. He told me "It is not a toy mom". Later we have the following conversation:

Me: It is not a toy Josh.
Josh: It is not a toy, Joshua.
Me: Oh sorry, Joshua.
Josh: No, say It is not a toy Joshua.
Me: Sigh. It is not a toy Joshua.

He is picky and demanding. :)

Crabby boy

Last night apparenly someone was in a crabby mood. I hope you didn't think this would be all cute stories. There has to be bad stories also. Last night he had all sort of mood swings. He would be all happy and then we would tell him he had to eat dinner and he would run away mad. I know, we are mean parents. Dinner ended with his plate on the floor along with the food. Charlie didn't think it was done on purpose but he was done with dinner.

Then they went downstairs to play while I finished making cupcakes. He wanted some of them, but they were not cooked yet. When I told him that, he told me "They are cooked. Don't say that." I came downstairs after and we played blocks a little. He then got mad because I didn't want him to close the door. He proceeded to slam the door on me so I went upstairs. He got mad and yelled upstairs. Charlie told him that he was not being nice. He did not like that and came upstairs crying and yelling, that he was nice.

I picked him up to talk to him and he hit me. Charlie took him upstairs to sit in his room and he continued to cry and hit. At this moment, snack was no longer an option. After more crying and saying he was nice, I got him down ready to read a book.

As we are rocking he is telling me, how he was not nice. He said "I won't get a snack tonight but if I am nice to you tomorrow I can have a snack". I told him he could and he told me he would be nice. The day ended nicely at least.

This morning I took him to daycare. As we are driving this is the conversation we have:

Josh: Mom I have a great idea.
Me: You do? What?
Josh: We went to Grandma Diers and Grandma Wenningers.
Me: Yes we did.

I don't think he has the concept of an idea. :)

That is all for now.

First Post

I have been yelled at since I don't write down all my "Josh stories". So since I know I won't ever write it down on paper I figured the internet was my best option. Welcome to Josh's story blog. I will try to keep my blog updated.

Here are some recent stories. Currently when I call him Josh, he tells me "It is Joshua". Well ok who knew he was so picky on what he was called. Another thing is recently he has sippy cup in his room for bed time. When he is done or does not want it in his bed, he puts his sippy cup outside of his door. I will have to take a picture.

He is also drinking from a big cup at the table. Or as he calls it a big girl cup. :) He is putting on his shoes (not always on the right feet). He can put socks and pants. When he did become such a big boy, he is growing up too fast. He is so proud of himself also. He loves to do things by himself.

This is Josh's description of his day. When it gets dark, we go inside and sleep. Then we wake up and the sun comes out and we can go outside!!! You have to love the simple view of life through the eyes of a two year old.

That is all for now.
