This weekend we had a long weekend at the cabin. Josh loves boating and swimming. Generally he does not like going into the water off the boat (the big water as he calls it), he prefers the sand bar (the little water). Friday we went boating, just the three of us, and went to the sandbar.
Saturday we went out two times. The first time we just went swimming in the big water. If you ask him right away, he doesn't want to get in, but once people start getting in the water, he wants to get in. He likes to climb down the later into the water. He even jumped in once. When we went back out after lunch, we swam in the big water and then went to the little water. The sandbar was fun but as we went to deeper water, we noticed a strong current. Josh is getting braver and started walking out into deeper water by himself. Charlie was near him and Josh got caught in the current and was excited because we was floating. He floated right to me and then we brought him to the shallow end.
On Sunday we only went in the big water. We eventually guilted Grandma Diers into the water. Josh started swimming back and forth between the two of us. He was so brave he didn't need to hold onto the rope or mommy. Finally he starts swimming towards the train tracks (which were quite far away). I kept trying to talk him to turning around as I followed him but he insisted he needed to go get his coffee that he left on the train tracks. The rest of the family was so helpful as they waved bye to us. Eventually Charlie made his way out and Josh started swimming back to him. I wasn't allowed to touch him anymore because he can swim all by himself. Then he wouldn't get out of the water and refused to climb the ladder.
He was so tired that he fall asleep with his book in his hands on the way home.
